I am 55 today This is a time for reflection. I’ve held an 8 Track player-well, really, my boom box-that big thing in “Say Anything”. I saw The Flintstones, Gilligan’s Island the Moon walk all in prime time! I’ve held Lps and played them religiously. You know-vinyl!
My first phone looked like a walkie-talkie and hurt my neck to hold! No way would it slip into a pocket! Most phones were rotary or dial and there were phone booths on the road & most gas stations and the term-“drop a dime” was easily understood!
There were cigarette commercials! ED,Dry eyes, the little blue pill and many other ailments & cures were hardly discussed-let alone on TV! There was Ed Sullivan and Wonderful World of Disney and Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom. I saw the Brady Bunch, my Three Sons and my Favorite Martian on regular TVs-not Nick at Nite!
I grew up in the sixties-too young for Free Love and the Haight-Ashbury crowd…But,I remember the Fab Four and Yellow submarine and Beatles haircuts and the craze for all bands who were English-British I dutifully stood in line to see Harry Chapin and John Denver. Later, Jethro Tull and The Blue Man group.
Remember, Sonny & Cher & Shields & Darnell? They made mime cool!
My memories.//like life is all jumbled. I hope you celebrate your own memories.
